Background
Ubisoft is a hallmark name in the video game industry, coming out with many popular franchises like Assassin’s Creed and Just Dance. They’re a founding member of Playing for the Planet, an alliance of gaming companies who are committed to taking action on the climate crisis.
Alongside efforts to reduce their own emissions in line with a 1.5°C SBTi pathway, Ubisoft is making voluntary contributions to climate projects across the world.
Problem
Supporting climate projects isn’t a straightforward task for companies. There are many hurdles when building an impactful contribution portfolio that’s consistent with a climate program. The carbon market isn’t only increasing in size, but in complexity too. There are lots of different types of projects to choose from, traders and intermediary actors to deal with, and new and alternative certification standards emerging.
